Our journey began in 2021 when we fell in love with beadwork and its meaning. As we looked around, we realized that beads were not just something people wore, they were a part of the culture.
We were inspired by how beads have always played a vital role in bringing people together, telling stories, and celebrating life’s most important moments.
By creating Ayessa, we wanted something that reflected the beauty of Ghanaian beadwork and craftsmanship, but also something that felt modern and fresh. What started as a personal passion project turned into an opportunity to showcase the incredible artistry from Ghana to the world.
Each bag is carefully designed and handmade in Accra, Ghana, using locally sourced materials and collaborating with skilled women artisans.
Our approach ensures fair trade practices and community empowerment through sustainable employment. By championing Africa-based manufacturing, we aspire to create a new narrative for artisanal work in the region.
